Our Commitment to Copyright

Bookisty respects the intellectual property rights of authors, publishers, and other rights holders. Our platform is designed for literary discussion — specifically, the sharing of short quotes from books as a means of discovery and conversation. Users are expected to share only brief, attributed excerpts that qualify as fair use under applicable law.

If you believe content on Bookisty infringes your copyright, please follow the process below. We will respond promptly to valid notices.

DMCA Safe Harbor

Bookisty operates as a platform for user-generated content and qualifies for safe harbor protection under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. We do not pre-screen content posted by users. Upon receiving a valid takedown notice, we will remove or disable access to the identified content.

  2. URL of the infringing content. The specific URL(s) on Bookisty where the allegedly infringing content appears.
  3. Your contact information. Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  4. Statement of good faith. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. Statement of accuracy. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
  6. Signature. Your physical or electronic signature.

Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notification to support@bookisty.com with the following information:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the content that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, telephone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of the applicable federal court.

Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we may restore the removed content after providing the original complainant with a copy of the counter-notification and a reasonable waiting period, as required by the DMCA.

Bookisty has a policy of terminating accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyright in appropriate circumstances.
