1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Bookisty (“the platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform. We may update these terms at any time; continued use of the platform following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. User Accounts
To post content on Bookisty, you must create an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the platform. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, including for violations of these terms.
3. User-Generated Content
Ownership. You retain ownership of the content you post to Bookisty, including quotes, reflections, and other contributions.
License to Bookisty. By posting content, you grant Bookisty a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the platform. This license ends when you delete your content or account.
Your representations. By posting content, you represent that you have the right to do so and that your content does not violate any third-party rights, applicable law, or these terms.
4. Copyright Responsibility
Bookisty is a platform for literary discussion. When posting book quotes, users are responsible for ensuring their use qualifies as fair use or that they otherwise have the right to share the content. Posting extensive excerpts or full chapters is prohibited. Bookisty respects intellectual property rights and will respond to valid copyright notices. See our Copyright Policy for details.
5. Content Moderation
Bookisty reserves the right to remove any content that violates these terms, our Community Guidelines, or that we deem harmful, inaccurate, or inappropriate — at our sole discretion and without prior notice. We do not guarantee that all content on the platform is accurate, appropriate, or licensed.
6. Account Suspension
We may suspend or permanently terminate your account for violations of these terms, repeated copyright infringement, abusive behavior, or any other conduct we determine to be harmful to the platform or its users. You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us.
7. Limitation of Liability
Bookisty is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bookisty and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including any content posted by users. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Bookisty after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
